About Western Wildfire Defense
Connecting Western homeowners with licensed wildfire mitigation contractors since 2019.
What We Do
Western Wildfire Defense is a contractor referral network serving homeowners in 11 Western states. We connect property owners in high-risk fire zones with licensed, state-certified contractors who specialize in defensible space clearing, home hardening, and fire-resistant landscaping.
Every contractor in our network is licensed in their state, fully insured, and trained to document work to the standards required by state fire agencies โ including CAL FIRE, Colorado DFPC, Oregon ODF, and Washington DNR. All work includes written documentation suitable for your insurance carrier.
Why Wildfire Mitigation Matters Now
The wildfire risk landscape across the American West has changed dramatically. Insurance companies are withdrawing from high-risk counties across California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. Homeowners who cannot demonstrate defensible space compliance and home hardening upgrades face non-renewal, premium increases of 100โ300%, or complete loss of coverage.
At the same time, state laws are tightening. California PRC 4291, Oregon SB 762, and similar statutes in Colorado and Washington now mandate defensible space compliance with mandatory inspections and potential fines for non-compliance. Acting proactively is both a legal requirement and a financial necessity.
Our Standards
- All contractors are licensed in their state of operation
- All work is documented to state fire agency standards (CAL FIRE, DFPC, ODF, DNR)
- All contractors carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance
- All assessments are free with no obligation
- All jobs include a written compliance report for your insurance carrier
